Our History

Spring Branch Original Free Baptist Church is located at the intersection of Craft Road and Spring Branch Church Road. Our church is just a few miles from the towns of Walstonburg, Fountain, Farmville and Saratoga. Spring Branch was officially established on July 4, 1903. Church construction occurred during the winter and the dedication was a year later. Spring Branch's name is derived from a spring that ran into a branch in the woods close to the site of the church.

Spring Branch Church evolved from the Sunday School, which had started approximately 22 years earlier than our church. The Sunday School was the outgrowth of Singletary School, which was one of the first public schools in the area.

Over the years, there have many changes in our church. One such change was going from half-time to full-time services. As our church family grew, additions were made to our church property to accommodate this growth. Additional rooms were added to the original building. Later a baptistery was installed. A fellowship hall and a parsonage were built on the church grounds. Beside the fellowship hall, a children's playground was created. To honor our loved ones, a memorial garden was added beside the sanctuary.

Despite the many changes that have occurred in our church, our goal has always remained the same - to grow in Christ and reach others for Him. Spring Branch Church has given Christian guidance and direction to our church family and community for over 120 years. Each of us strives to minister to the spiritual and physical needs of the community. We look forward to doing the same in the future.
